Jeff Shein’s model is the most comprehensive I have seen. I don’t know if it’s a class exercise, but the formulas don’t seem to get copied over so you will need to do some work before you use it. That said, it’s a good template for someone on the team unfamiliar with how to set up a good 13 week CF model and maintain it. It has helpful notes in the model.

Automated Models / SaaS Models
GreenSpark is the most sophisticated cash flow model and management tool for ecomm brands that I have come across. They offer software and services.

Iris combines multiple tools and analyses into one solution. You get an automated 13 week cash flow model along with an FP&A model, variance tracking, contribution profit tracking and benchmarking.

Highbeam is an ecomm focused bank and a terrific option for the treasury function of managing cash. They have been rolling out analytics products as part of their offering and launched their AI focused cash forecasting tool in late March 2025. As of this writing, it’s not as sophisticated and robust as the options above and I would not rely on it if cash is really tight and you are working week to week or day to day to manage your cash. But if you are looking for a better way to earn money from your cash and want some additional tools too, their cash forecasting offering is a good start and certainly will get better rapidly.

Fractional CFO’s
If your fractional CFO isn’t providing a 13 week or daily cash flow model, I would demand one or switch firms.
Custom Models
Brands are often complicated. They have multiple distribution channels (i.e. Shopify, Amazon, marketplaces, retail, wholesale, domestic, international), multiple suppliers and combinations of in-house, third product and whole product manufacturing. Maybe they use drops in addition to evergreen. Their SKU’s are constantly changing. Edge cases often break off the shelf models. Do you pay for professional services to adapt the off the shelf model? Do you ignore the shortcomings with fuzzy assumptions?
Sometimes it makes sense to get what you need through a custom build. A robust, daily model should cost around $3,000 to $5,000.
